Edge City is hiring a founding Program Director to own the Inflection Fellowship and Inflection Grants as long-term institutions. The role combines multi-year program strategy with hands-on execution, from finding exceptional young builders to designing village-based fellowship experiences and building an alumni network that compounds over time.
This is a full-time, long-term role with founder-level ownership rather than a cohort-by-cohort contract. The programs have multi-year backing, and the Program Director is expected to shape what they become over a three-year-plus horizon.
Responsibilities
- Build a distinctive sourcing practice for identifying unusual, high-potential builders before they are widely recognized, using personal networks, the Edge community, Long Journey, past fellows and grantees, university technology communities, hacker houses, and direct outreach.
- Own and continuously improve the application, interview, and selection process, applying strong judgment to distinguish genuine potential and unusual strengths from polish alone.
- Set the long-term strategy for the Inflection Fellowship and Inflection Grants, including how the two programs reinforce each other and connect with the broader Edge ecosystem.
- Design the fellowship as an experiential program embedded within Edge villages, including cohort rhythms, rituals, mentoring, goal-setting, daily debriefs, weekly one-to-ones, demo dinners, and closing activities.
- Live and work alongside each cohort during Edge villages, actively creating connections among fellows, mentors, visitors, builders, researchers, and investors while supporting fellows through challenging personal and professional transitions.
- Develop the alumni network as a long-term strategic asset, maintaining relationships after each village and creating ways for alumni to support future participants and the wider community.
- Curate mentors and visitors for each program by understanding who will be present, what they can offer, and how each fellow can engage them effectively.
- Capture cohort stories, breakthroughs, quotes, photos, and fellow-written reflections, and turn them into public materials for future fellows, sponsors, and the community.
- Create the fundraising strategy and own funder relationships so the Fellowship and Grants can operate sustainably over multiple years.
- Steward the partnership with Long Journey and help define how the relationship can develop over time.
Programs Owned
Inflection Fellowship
The Fellowship provides full scholarships for six people under 25 to attend each Edge City and work on a project within the community. The Program Director owns sourcing, applications, selection, the on-the-ground experience, and helping fellows connect their work to larger opportunities.
Inflection Grants
The Grants program awards ten USD 2K micro-grants every six months to young builders working on unusual ideas. The Program Director builds the systems, relationships, and judgment needed to identify people at an early inflection point.
Requirements
- Exceptional ability to source and identify unusual talent through networks, direct outreach, interviewing, and independent judgment.
- Strategic ownership and the ability to think across a three-year horizon while independently making decisions and executing the day-to-day work.
- High emotional intelligence and a genuinely nurturing approach to helping fellows recognize their potential and navigate vulnerable transitions.
- Strong program operations, including running application processes, tracking outcomes, communicating clearly, and building systems that do not depend on one person.
- Ability and willingness to live and work on-site with each cohort for the duration of every Edge village.
- Experience building communities, mentor networks, partnerships, fundraising relationships, or long-term talent programs is relevant to the role.
Growth Path
The role may grow into broader leadership within Edge Institute, Edge City's 501(c)(3) nonprofit arm. Over time, the Program Director will help shape how Edge City recruits and develops talent globally, builds pipelines for exceptional builders, and maintains a worldwide alumni network.
Working Arrangement and Compensation
- Full-time, long-term, senior Program Director role.

- On-site for the duration of every Edge village, with remote-friendly and flexible work between villages.
