Who
ESP provides financial and/or non-financial support to eligible projects working to improve Ethereum. We focus on work that strengthens Ethereum's foundations and enables future builders. The work we support is free, open-source, non-commercial, and designed to create positive sum outcomes for the community.
Our support is generally directed toward enabling builders rather than end-users: strengthening Ethereum's infrastructure, expanding the range of tools available to those building on Ethereum, gaining a deeper understanding of cryptographic primitives, growing the builder ecosystem through education and community development, etc.
What
RFPs define focused problems and outline clear target outcomes. They are more prescriptive and timebound, providing opportunities for specific research, development, or implementation efforts that address identified needs within the Ethereum ecosystem.
This RFP invites proposals to establish or expand permanent Ethereum Community Hubs around the world. These hubs are open, inclusive spaces designed for local communities, visitors, and temporary residents to co-work, attend and host events, learn, and collaborate with the global Ethereum ecosystem.
Each community hub should be locally managed and self-sustaining, combining co working areas, regular events and programming, and educational initiatives that foster innovation and community growth. With continuous guidance and lightweight support from the Ethereum Everywhere team, these hubs will act as anchors for local ecosystems and bridges to the global Ethereum network, strengthening collaboration, education, and long-term sustainability.
We welcome proposals from both new and existing initiatives that aim to create sustainable community hubs focused on co-working, education, research, and developer support. Each community hub should be open and accessible to the public and promote collaboration rather than exclusivity.
Applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis, and we seek to support multiple initiatives. Please use the application template provided in the Resources section when submitting your proposal.
Why
Ethereum's global community thrives when local ecosystems have physical anchors for connecting, learning, building, and coordinating. Successful pilots in San Francisco, Berlin, and London have demonstrated strong demand for these community hubs. Expanding this model can connect local talent to each other and to the global Ethereum ecosystem.
Hard Requirements
Operations
- Clear mission and operational strategy aligned with Ethereum’s values
- Transparent budget and plan for long-term financial sustainability (through self-funding, partnerships, or diversified revenue).
- Open access for community members (no private or paywalled spaces)
- Sustainable management plan (staff, maintenance, programming, community maintenance)
- Regular impact and activity reporting
- Focus on connection, education, onboarding, and showcasing local talent
Physical Space
- Safe, accessible, and well-connected location
- Well-equipped space with reliable basic infrastructure, suitable for co-working, meetups, workshops, and other events
Soft Requirements
- Proven track record running community spaces or initiatives
- Collaboration with other local organizations, universities, or developer groups
