Unlock DAO Grants
Unlock DAO grants support projects that build on Unlock Protocol and contribute to the protocol's ecosystem and governance.
Focus Areas
- Educational programs, integrations, plugins, applications and events that improve Unlock Protocol's visibility, credibility or Gross Network Product.
- Long-term ecosystem participation through application integrations, education and events.
What You Get
- Technical guidance from Unlock developers, feedback and prioritized issue support.
- Marketing support, pitch clarification and co-marketing through Unlock's blog and social channels.
- Connections with other grantees, developers and users at hackathons and virtual developer meetups.
Application Process
The Grantee Handbook presents a recommended community process. DAO members make and decide grant proposals; the community can choose other proposal processes.
- Read the grant and governance documentation.
- Open a grant application issue in the Unlock GitHub repository. Include the request description, website, social and developer handles, estimated completion time, team background, milestones, requested amount, open-source intentions and other relevant context.
- Invite community discussion in the application thread.
- Before substantial work, consider an optional off-chain Snapshot temperature check. This indicates community support but is not a binding funding approval.
- Build in public and share progress, demos, milestones, screenshots and videos.
- On completion, publish the deliverables and retrospective in the application thread.
- Submit an on-chain proposal requesting grant distribution. If quorum is reached and the proposal passes, execution distributes funds to the specified wallet.
Rules and Conditions
- Milestones should identify concrete checkpoints and the final milestone should include success metrics or return on investment.
- Examples of success metrics include memberships created, event tickets sold, credentials issued or people reached through educational materials.
- If work is not completed and delivered within one year of the initial grant discussion, the community will likely regard the project as abandoned.
- Off-chain support is directional; the final on-chain vote controls distribution.
