Tempo is hiring a Security Engineer for its internal Red Team to test protocol, consensus, bridge, and EVM security continuously.
About the Role
The internal Red Team stress-tests Tempo's infrastructure through offensive research, custom tooling, fuzzing, and economic-attack simulation.
The role focuses on practical protocol security rather than compliance-only review.
Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- Hunt proactively for vulnerabilities in the Tempo protocol, consensus engine, and bridge architecture.
- Treat the testnet and mainnet threat model as a continuous security challenge.
- Design and implement security tooling and automation with the Foundry team.
- Review critical architecture across the codebase with engineering teams.
- Analyze game-theoretic and incentive risks, including MEV and staking dynamics.
- Use fuzzing, custom testing, and offensive techniques to identify logic and execution edge cases.
Requirements
Required Experience and Skills
- Fluency reading and writing production systems code, with a strong preference for Rust.
- Deep knowledge of EVM internals, opcodes, storage slots, gas metering, and precompiles.
- A record of offensive-security work demonstrated through CTF rankings, high-severity bounty reports, or published research.
- Experience building custom security automation or tools rather than relying only on standard scanners.
- Current knowledge of blockchain-security research, recent attacks, and mitigation approaches.
- Precise, evidence-based communication, strong organization, curiosity, and hands-on execution.
