Responsibilities
Editors work with in-house professional editors to assess, select and help improve submitted papers. Editors share responsibility for the scientific quality of the manuscripts they review, and adhere to the journal's ethics, editorial standards, policies and scope.
- Handle manuscripts and provide timely, fair and constructive peer reviews
- Accept or decline as soon as an invitation to handle a paper arrives. Accept if you have the time to read the paper and are comfortable with the topic
- Read the paper and decide whether to reject, revise and resubmit, or accept it
- Write one editorial or blog for the journal, or submit an original research manuscript
- Encourage colleagues to support the journal by submitting high quality work
- Be an ambassador for the journal
- Participate in the annual global board meeting
- Promote progressive publishing ideas
- Make recommendations to improve the journal, its strategic directions, new features and departments
Time Commitment
- 1 or 2 manuscripts on a quarterly basis (a predetermined limit can be set)
- Each paper read within 1-2 weeks

- Experience of the publication process, as evidenced by first-authored publications
- Demonstrably strong expertise in one or more areas relevant to the journal
- Willingness to handle manuscripts rapidly
