About the Security Engineer Role
Hyperithm's Security Engineer designs and operates company-wide security operations and works with the Infra organization to advance the internal security framework. Rather than simply adding more security controls, the role designs the most appropriate approach by weighing real risk against business impact. In an environment where AI and new ways of working are being adopted quickly, we value redefining the controls and structures that are actually needed instead of applying existing security practices as-is.
What You Will Do
- Design and operate a Zero Trust-based internal security framework centered on Identity and Device Trust.
- Operate and advance key security solutions such as IAM, EDR, MDM, SASE, and a Password Manager.
- Improve permission management and onboarding/offboarding processes for core internal systems such as Google Workspace, Slack, GitHub, and Cloud.
- Evaluate and implement new security solutions as needed, such as email security and endpoint security.
- Analyze and respond to security events such as phishing, credential theft, supply chain attacks, and malware.
- Identify root causes of incidents and carry out structural improvements to prevent recurrence.
- Assess vulnerabilities in internal services and infrastructure and remediate them together with the development and Infra organizations.
- Improve repetitive security operations using AI and automation.
- Analyze security risks arising from the adoption of new technologies such as AI agents and design appropriate guardrails.
Questions We Often Think About
- Why shouldn't secrets be put into prompts?
- How can we avoid rolling OTPs every time someone leaves the company?
- Can we give every employee administrator privileges and still keep the environment safe?
- If reducing the likelihood of a security incident is expensive, how far should we invest?
- If AI agents use GitHub and AWS on behalf of people, how should the identity and permission model change?
- Which of the security controls we currently operate could be removed?
Who We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of hands-on security experience
- Able to analyze complex security problems critically and logically
- Has explored a specific security domain in depth, down to its principles and limits, and applied it in a real environment
- Judges security issues from a business perspective — cost, productivity, operational complexity — rather than treating them as purely technical problems
- Actively uses AI in real work such as research, analysis, development, and automation
- Experience analyzing the cause of security events and carrying out response and recurrence prevention
- Strong overall understanding of computers, software, and cloud environments
Please Include in Your Resume
When applying, please write the following two items in free form in your resume or in a separate document. There is no length limit; we care about how you defined the problem, what judgments you made, and what role you played.
- 1) An experience in which you questioned an existing security practice or control and changed it to a better approach. Describe specifically why you thought the existing approach was problematic, which alternatives you considered, and what you actually changed. If possible, also describe how you weighed trade-offs such as cost, productivity, user experience, and operational complexity, not just the security level.
- 2) An experience in which you used AI to solve a problem or improve how you work. Describe specifically what the problem was, which AI tools you used and how, what you delegated to AI, and what judgments you made yourself. It does not have to be security work.
