About the role

As an Infrastructure Engineer with a specialized focus on our staking business, your core responsibility is to architect, deploy, and maintain a secure, reliable, and scalable validator infrastructure across multiple blockchain networks.

Your duties encompass managing our services across cloud and bare-metal environments, implementing robust automation, monitoring, and incident response strategies to maximize uptime and rewards.

You will directly participate in maintaining and enhancing our operations/automation stack as well as relevant IT processes, to advance our operational excellence. Furthermore, you will provide DevOps leadership and guidance by collaborating with our internal protocol development teams and fellow engineers where needed.

Your role extends to engaging with the open-source and staking community to identify new opportunities, drive innovation and proactively contribute solutions that strengthen the ecosystems we engage with.

Responsibilities

What will you be doing

  • Architect, deploy, and monitor globally distributed blockchain validators across multiple ecosystems to ensure secure, reliable and scalable staking operations (e.g., Ethereum, Polkadot, Aztec, Celestia and more).
  • Own the infrastructure and services you maintain - proactively take care of upgrades, key management, slashing mitigation and reward optimization.
  • Implement automation efforts around builds, deployment, and observability
  • Design, implement, and document procedures related to infrastructure operations
  • Participate in our on-call rotation, respond to incidents, and ensure high uptime, performance and excellent service quality.
  • Work directly with our internal node development teams to support resolving issues.
  • Collaborate with the wider community to build, expand, and scale ChainSafe’s infrastructure by tapping into new trends and opportunities.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience in architecting and operating different types of blockchain nodes, including RPC and validator nodes, along with a solid understanding of securing the validator keys.
  • Practical proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Go, Rust, Python, or similar).
  • Demonstrable experience with modern Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools and CI/CD best practices.
  • 2+ years of experience working in Web3, as well as a solid understanding of decentralization, security, and diversification of the blockchain infrastructure.
  • 3+ years of experience in the following:
    • Managing resources in either AWS, GCP, or Azure
    • Hands-on experience with bare-metal cloud providers (e.g., Hetzner, OVH, Contabo or similar)
    • Implementing observability and incident response best practices
    • Administering and maintaining Linux hosts
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to document and convey clear technical details
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as with the wider team in a remote setting

As a plus:

  • Experience using Terraform, K8s, Helm, Ansible
  • Experience with running rollup and/or ZK infrastructure
  • Understanding at least two of the following domains - Web Security, Web3 Security, Cloud Security, Systems Security, and Applied Cryptography
  • Understanding at least two of the following domains: Web Security, Web3 Security, Cloud Security, Systems Security, and Applied Cryptography
  • Timezone compatible to EST/CET is a strong plus
